The Coconut Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences signed a contract with Xinlianxin Group to jointly develop coconut-specific fertilizers

On December 6, 2025, on the occasion of the grand opening of the second China (Hainan) Talent Exchange Conference, a cooperation project among industry, academia and research aimed at promoting the high-quality development of China's coconut industry was officially launched.

The Coconut Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Henan Xinlianxin Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. successfully signed a project cooperation agreement on "Research and Experimental Demonstration of Coconut Nutritional Regulation Mechanism" at Hall 5 of Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. Both sides will integrate top-notch scientific research capabilities and industrial practice advantages to jointly solve the scientific challenges of precise fertilization and efficient cultivation of coconuts, injecting strong technological impetus into the sustainable development of the industry.

The signing ceremony was conducted by Hu Wei, the director of the Coconut Research Institute, and Liu Ruijie, the director of the Product Research Institute of Xinlianxin Company, on behalf of both parties. Researcher Fan Haikuo from the Coconut Research Institute, postdoctoral researcher Qiu Yingwei from Malaysia, and Zhang Bo, assistant general manager of Xinlianxin International Trade Company, witnessed this significant moment together. This cooperation is not merely a simple project signing, but a vivid practice of deepening integration between a national-level agricultural research institution and a leading domestic fertilizer industry enterprise to serve the national tropical agriculture strategy.

Coconut is an important economic crop and characteristic industry in tropical regions around the world. However, for a long time, there have been common bottlenecks in its production, such as extensive fertilization, low nutrient utilization rate, and lack of specialized fertilizers, which have restricted the improvement of yield and quality.

This cooperation will directly address the core demands of the industry. According to the agreement, both parties will rely on the profound germplasm resources and cultivation research foundation of the Coconut Research Institute, as well as the leading advantages of Xinlianxin Company in the research and development of new fertilizers and agricultural chemical services, to systematically conduct research on the nutritional demand patterns throughout the entire growth period of coconuts, and clarify the absorption and regulation mechanisms of key nutrients. The project plans to establish a core experimental demonstration base in the main production areas of Hainan. Through a large number of field experiments, the optimal nutrient management plan will be screened and verified, laying a solid theoretical and data foundation for the development of efficient and environmentally friendly coconut-specific fertilizers suitable for China's national conditions, and developing coconut-specific fertilizers for the main production areas of Southeast Asia.
